A New Door Opens...

I know it's been so long since I've made a post, but I've been so busy with getting back to school. But.... Here I am! I'm back!

This year I was hoping to get into sports; Volleyball. Volleyball is my favorite sport to play and I thought it would be fun to be on the school team. Well, I tried out and it didn't go so well. The coach cut me from the team, along with twenty-five other girls.

Thinking that maybe volleyball just isn't my thing, I decided to give cheerleading a try. Almost all of my friends told me to "just try it!" I wasn't sure about this at first because cheerleading has never been something I had an interest for. But considering I really wanted to do something extra this year, I gave it a shot. Well, cheerleading didn't go so well either. But, considering there were forty-eight girls (and two boys(just for laughs)) who tried out for a spot on the team, I didn't take it personally.

But let me tell you, I was going to be involved in something this year. Finally, I came upon the Yearbook Committee. A few of my friends had been involved with this last year and absolutely loved it. They told me I should give it a try. So, guess what? I did!

I wrote up a personal statement about why I think I would be a nice addition to the staff and apparently the teacher liked it. She slipped me a piece of paper one morning when I was sitting at my desk doing some work. I read the sheet of paper and it said that I had made it to the second round! I kept reading... It said that I was to be in Mrs. Harris' room at 7:00AM on Friday. I was to be dressed up in formal clothes. I was excited! For once I really felt confident about an after-school activity! Volleyball and cheerleading were fun but I think that I might enjoy this a lot more.

Anyway, I showed up on Friday morning, right on time in my black and white dress, new shawl, and new shoes (thank you Grandma). It started off good; Mrs. Harris complimented my outfit with a smile. I thanked her and we both sat down. Her at her "teacher desk" and me at my "student desk". She asked my why I thought I would like the Yearkbook Committee. I told her that I think I would like it because I love, love, LOVE the camera. There are many jobs on the committee but I think "photographer" would be best for me. I really enjoy playing around with the camera...
She seemed to be impressed that I'm so interested in photography.

I'm not 100% sure that I'm on the staff, but I've got a pretty good feeling...

My Granddad...

My Granddad... what can I say? He's always been there for not only me, but my entire family. He's been a big help in my family. I don't know what I, would do without him... especially on our trip to the West...

BACK TO SCHOOL

" RING! " If there's one sound that I can't wait to hear it's the sound of the school bell alerting us to switch classes.

It's my second year at Carroll MS, and I can't wait! I thought that last year was the most excited I've ever been for school to get back in as it was my first year in middle school but I have to admit, I'm literally bouncing in my seat right now! That's how enthusiastic about school I am.

I've noticed that most parents think that kids don't like school and never want to go back when Summer comes to an end but let me tell you, it's not just me who's eager to get back. My friend's stay in touch over the Summer and I'd have to say that about 9 out of 10 kids want to go back. That's awesome if you ask me!

I love Carroll and I think this year I'm going to love it even more because now that I'm in 7th grade, I have different advantages that I didn't have before. My favorite being sports. For some reason the school board doesn't believe that 6th graders should be able to play sports their first year. Part of me agrees but the other wants to yell at them for being so silly. Yes I do believe that because 6th graders are new to the whole middle school idea that they should be more involved with their school work than extra curricular activities; but on the other hand I think that if a student wants to be on a team, they should be able to. But it's up to them to keep their grades under control.

This year I'm hopefully going to be on the Carroll Volleyball Team. My friends tell me that I'm in for a real surprise because I've never been on an actual sports related team before. Although, I used to play volleyball with my friends a lot at school so hopefully I'll be able to prove my friends wrong.

So, no longer will I be doing this...

...Instead I'll be doing this...

Hope you enjoyed your Summer...

I know I did!

Returning Home

I know that I haven't been able to update my posts in a while but, now, the one time that I have free-time, I make a post on coming home. Anyway, I'm sitting in the airport with my Grandma & Granddad. Our flight is on time, unlike our New England trip. I'm so tired right now but can't bare to think about how I'm going to feel when I actually get home: 11:45!! I'm going to be exhausted. Luckily, I don't have to do anything when I get home so I can just go to sleep! :D

Doesn't it look peaceful?? ;)

Golden Gate Bridge

Hello everybody! I've been so busy and having so much fun these pasts few days, I haven't had any time to make a post. I'm so behind. I still have to make a San Francisco post! As I've got so many posts to catch up on, I'm not going to write a lot. I'll just put captions under the photos that I took. All of these photos I took are taken from the car window!

Golden Gate Bride with Fog around it

this is a nice one

But, this is my favorite. It has a bit of everything:

The Golden Gate Bridge, A Motorcyclist, and Grandma's hat!

San Francisco

We're here in San Francisco. Yes, the flights went smoothly from Raleigh to Atlanta to California. The almost 5 hour flight from Atlanta to California felt like the longest 5 hours of my life! Maybe the fact that I didn't move or get up to walk around at all had something to do with it. But I had plenty of things to keep me busy. Inluding my camera...

on the plane...

almost there!!

Songbirds of Pink Saturday

Songbirds of Saturday; Pink Saturday that is. For this week's Pink Saturday post, I decided to use this adorable little sign. I thought it was a good idea as I've got plenty of songbirds in my neighborhood that like to wake me up in the morning. There are so many of them, it's like a little "birdie choir" in my back yard. From Cardinals to Wrens, to Catbirds and Blue Jays, they all blend together making a sweet, melodious songbird sound.
I found this charming sign at SuzAnna's Antiques. My Grandma and I always find the most interesting things there. I love it!

Go to Beverly's How Sweet the Sound to see this week's Pink Saturday participants.
